So today I was talking with one of my girlfriends and somehow the conversation moved to thinking about how amazing people are. I was saying, it’s crazy how I can meet people who have can accomplish so much that it makes me feel like I can’t chew gum and walk at the same time. How did they tap into all of that ability? Then we talked shortly about how it is said, we only use a small portion of the brain and then we got sidetracked. I did tell here that I wanted to blog about this topic today because I really got excited about tapping into all of the ability that God has given us. Now before writing this post, I was looking up exactly how much of the brain that we actually use. I read that the original consensus was 10% but now that is considered a myth and we don’t exactly know how much of the brain is used :/. Well I did not dig any deeper than a couple of sites on google and proceeded to begin this blog because the truth of the matter is, regardless of how much of the brain we use….We all have potential that we have not tapped into yet. Whether the potential is to give more, and love more to owning several businesses or becoming the next president…there are undiscovered aspects of our life that God is just waiting for us to step into.
Yesterday was my birthday and I was truly excited. I said to God, I am starting off a new year of my life standing on your Word, and your direction….standing on prayer. I was praying and I kept verbalizing, “You said in your Word…”. I would complete the statement with scriptures of God’s promises. I felt something inside of me opening up…yearning for more, it was like a child waiting for his/her Christmas gifts. The more time I spend with God, the more I embrace how much He loves me. I felt as if I could ask anything, and be assured that God would bless me with it, according to his will of course. It’s like my relationship with my son. I would give him anything that he asks for, within my ability and as long as I know it won’t hurt him or cause him to be at a disadvantage in some area. The only difference is that God has the ability to do all things so it’s just a matter of His assessing my desire because He has foresight. God truly Loves me….He Loves me!
So where am I going with this? Well, I started this post thinking about tapping into your potential and I was looking for scriptures that dealt with testing God, what God says about faith and when he gives you gifts/talents, but I’m not led to focus on that, but rather to focus on Love when it comes to being awakened. We seek out love from so many people but we forget that people are imperfect; therefore the love that others feel they are giving us doesn’t always produce the true fruits of love. There is a sense of security, confidence, peace and even energy that is felt when a person knows that he/she is truly loved. To not be afraid that love will be snatched away, or suddenly turned into hate is freeing. When the concerns of life and circumstance cause us to forget how much God loves us, it stagnates our progress. How can we have faith in God being with us in anything in life when we don’t have faith in His love for us? When you know, that you know… that you know… that you know…that you know that God loves you, you will begin to change for the better. Your senses will awaken and you will be able to hear from God and trust that he will keep you in all situations. You will not question God’s plan for you (in a negative way), because you will know that God Loves you, so his plan for you have to be great. It says in Jerimiah 29:11 “11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Confidence in God’s love will break the various chains of bondage in our lives that prevent us from living out our full potential. We will stop looking at our trials as roadblocks and know that God will use them for our good. Rather than focusing on what we don’t have, we can say, “Thank you God for clearing the way for the blessing that you are bringing me” or “Thank you God for protecting me from that thing that I did not realize could have claimed my life.” Rather than focusing on who hurt us, we can say “Thank you God for revealing to me the spirit of the person that is in my life so I am no longer in the dark” or “Thank you God for reminding me that Your love is a perfect love I can always depend on.” Rather than focusing on tasks or goals that seem insurmountable, we can say, “Thank you Lord, because I know you want me to trust and lean on you in this area” or “Thank you Lord, for reminding me that nothing is too hard for you”. God is concerned and invested in every aspect of our life. God loves us!
I am so elated that God loves me so much, that he blessed me with another year on this earth. I am not going to live out a defeated life. One of my shortcomings that I can admit is allowing the opinion of others to affect my self-worth. It’s an embarrassing thing to admit, but it is also very common. From birth we are taught to be good so good things can happen. There is nothing wrong with that, however the devil is so good at twisting things. This basic concept tends to evolve into adults looking to others for validation. When we are rejected for some reason – which may or may not have anything to do with us – the devil whispers in our ears that we are not good. As I have said before, the devil is a liar. Our validation comes from God. Our acceptance comes from God…Our ability comes from God….True Love comes from God. Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” God is Love and He is the perfect example of Love. The revelation of God’s love for us will awaken every sense imaginable. This love revelation, will allow us break the strongholds of our past, the roadblocks of our present and allow us to walk into the life that God wants us to have. God’s love awakens us and allows us to live out our full potential.
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
